Every offseason, players leave one organization and then others come. This is also true in terms of hopes. Some players are drafted by the team, while others become free agents or Clever again by the other organizations (repeat).
At midnight tonight, the Canadiens will officially let go of one of their young hopefuls: Jacob Olofsson.
Signature deadline update
June 1 is the deadline to sign these 29 prospects, if they remain unsigned their respective team forfeits their exclusive signing rights.
Those eligible to re-enter the draft can be selected this July, otherwise, they become UFA.https://t.co/3B8UOBLIyt pic.twitter.com/aNKhhU3xuO

Who is Jacob Olofsson?
When he was drafted 56th overall (2nd round) in 2018, Olofsson was a central player playing in Sweden’s second division. He had just completed a season of 21 points in 43 games.
But it was (relatively) quick afterward.
Olofsson played two seasons in the Swedish top division (SweHL) during which he collected 9 points from 34 games and 9 points from 24 games.
It was then relegated to the Swedish second division (2020-21), a league in which it still plays today. Note that it was in the center. YYonthe wing in recent years, on the last six Y on top six of their teams. Suddenly he was no longer a great prospect.
I had the opportunity to see Olofsson in action at Brossard in 2018, after his selection, and I found him. Right, no more. She was not spared from injuries and has not developed as expected since then. We can understand that the new management wants to cut ties with this one.
Note that Olofsson no longer has any reference to the Canadian on his Instagram page.
Olofsson will become an unrestricted free agent on July 13. I believe that Olofsson will never come to North America and that he will play his entire career In Europe. Probably in Sweden…
Recall that Brett Stapley (2018 seventh-round pick) should become an unrestricted free agent on Aug. 15, The Canadian would have no intention of presenting him with an entry contract by then. Stapley is coming off his fourth season at the University of Denver.
All other prospects in the organization who have not yet signed a contract with the organization will remain the property of the organization in from 2022-23.
Good last day as CH I hope, Jacob!
A lot of
–Joshua RoyATTO) will join the Rocket in the next few hours. It remains to be seen if he will play games or if he will only train and live the professional experience (like Riley Kidney).
I can confirm that Joshua Roy will be joining the @RocketLaval in the next few hours. He is coming off a 119-point season with Sherbrooke Phoenix and was eliminated yesterday against Charlottetown.

Do you want depth? The Laval Rocket has many spares with the addition of Joshua Roy (shown below in italics in no particular order). pic.twitter.com/Oy33SHlbwR

– Ondrej Palat could leave Rayo during the summer.
After Yanni Gourde, Ondrej Palat risks becoming the next cap victim in Tampa.
But the Lightning have a knack for finding good players at lower salaries. https://t.co/tqU2Tq7EVk

– Real.
Whoever the Habs pick first overall, I’ll support. It’s not an “Us and Them” scenario for me. If it’s Slafkovsky… great, if it’s Cooley, great; if it’s Wright… great. I have a clear preference for Slave, but all three of them will be good NHL players in different ways.

– Completed junior for Hendrix Lapierre.
1st pick in the 2018 draft @QMJHLHendrix Lapierre played the last game of his career after the elimination of the @ABTitan against @IslandersHKY in the second round of the series. The Gatineau resident wouldn’t change a thing from the past 4 years despite the ups and downs. https://t.co/d4j49ZAoIz
