We are at the end of May. There are only seven teams left alive in the NHL. Six after tonight? And five in the morning on Friday?
In short, the vast majority of formations already have their heads in the 2022-23 season. They are preparing for the amateur draft, their next trades, and their next signings…
And six of them are still looking for a head coach this morning.
Chicago Blackhawks: Derek King was not confirmed
Dallas Stars: Rick Bownes’s contract non-renewal
Detroit Red Wings: Jeff Blashill fired
Philadelphia Flyers: Mike Yeo exit
Las Vegas Golden Knights: the firing of Peter DeBoer
Winnipeg jets: Dave Lowry exit
Beware that I consider the file closed in the Canadian, despite the confirmation of the return of Martin St-Louis that takes time to arrive.
Tea @CanadiensMTL remains tight-lipped, but we can expect Martin St Louis’ contract extension as head coach to be announced shortly.

Will Andrew Brunette, despite a Jack-Adams Trophy nomination, join this group?
Let’s go back to the positions officially to be filled and the available trainers…
Barry Trotz has been linked to the Flyers, Golden Knight,s, and Jets…
Juan Tortorella would have last an interview with the GM of the Flyers…
Friedman at 32TP:
I think there are people in the Philly organization and I wouldn’t be surprised if Bob Clarke is one of them who is big on the John Tortorella bandwagon. I still think they are a potential for Trotz and I still think Rick Tocchet is going to interview there.

The names of Pascal Vincent (Jets), Paul Maurice, Rick Tocchet (Flyers), Dave Tippett, Jim Montgomery, Benoit Groulx, and Alain Vigneault have bounced back left and right in some speculation…
Those of Mike Babcock and Joel Quenneville was even linked to the Islanders a few days ago, before the signing of Lane Lambert…
And now we learned this morning from Elliotte Friedman that Kirk Muller would be on the radar of the Flyers and Jets.
Friedman at 32TP:
The guy I’d like to mention is Kirk Muller, I’ve heard Philly is interested in Muller, and I think Winnipeg is also interested in Kirk Muller.

Yes, Muller already has a job. He is currently Darryl Sutter’s assistant (partner, in fact) in Calgary. But generally, a team does not prevent one of its members from being interviewed for a higher position than the one he occupies.
Once the Flames are eliminated (tomorrow?), will Muller be officially contacted by the Jets? I the frills? It can…
Let us remember that Muller was the Canadian’s assistant for five years, before training (in chief) the Milwaukee Admirals, then the Carolina Hurricanes. He then agreed to become the second coach in St-Louis, then Montreal (before joining the Flames).
I might as well see it end up in Winnipeg… if Barry Trotz or Pascal Vincent aren’t signed by then. And I’m sure he ticks several boxes on Chuck Fletcher’s (Philadelphia) list.
Much
–Tyler Toffoli broke nothing in Calgary.
If Toffoli finishes the playoffs with two goals and five points, that trade won’t look too bad for the Habs either. I also think they got a better perspective of Calgary. @TonyMarinaro @tsn690

– Evander Kane, unlike Toffoli, is broken Everything in Edmonton is not bad.
Who knew that Evander Kane was the missing piece in the Oilers…
